Company Overview¶
Home / Company
Anvil is a vertically-integrated design and manufacturing platform for high-mix, low-volume machined metal parts. We own and operate standardized 5-axis CNC cells, and we build the AI-powered CAM engine that programs them. The goal is to collapse the time and expertise required to go from a 3D model to a finished part.
The core insight behind the company: the bottleneck in precision machining isn't cutting metal — it's knowing how to cut it. CAM programming is the constraint. It requires deep process knowledge, it's slow, and it doesn't scale with headcount. Every shop we talked to had the same problem: machines sitting idle waiting for programs. We're building software that solves that, and we're running our own machines so we control the full loop from model to part.
Vertical integration is the key unlock. By standardizing on a single machine platform (DN Solutions DVF 5000), a single tool library (120 HSK-A63 tools), and a single material (6061-T651 aluminum), we make the AI-CAM problem tractable. Every part we machine generates data that flows back into our models — better feature recognition, better toolpath strategies, better cycle times. That feedback loop doesn't exist if you're licensing software to shops with heterogeneous setups.
