This role is actively hiring
About Us¶
We're building AI-powered manufacturing infrastructure — software that automates the hardest part of making precision metal parts. We're vertically integrated, meaning we don't just write the software, we run the machines. That closed loop between code and production is what makes our approach possible and what makes working here different from a typical software company.
We are a small founding team with backgrounds in robotics, advanced manufacturing, and computational geometry, headquartered near Boston with an on-site production facility.
About You¶
We're looking for builders who are excited about what happens when software meets the physical world. You'll thrive on our team if you're:
- Passionate about design and manufacturing — you care about how things get made
- Excited by full-stack ownership, from database schema to browser-based 3D geometry
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
- Curious and resourceful — eager to learn new domains and solve problems end-to-end
- Customer-minded, always thinking about the experience for the engineer uploading a CAD file or the operator running a machine
About the Role¶
Manufacturing is being rebuilt by software, and this role puts you at the center of it. You'll build the platform that connects our AI-CAM pipeline to the physical shop floor — production management, customer-facing applications, advanced geometric processing tools that run in the browser, and the cloud infrastructure underneath all of it. This role is for someone who enjoys working across the full stack, hosting complex 3D geometry software on modern cloud infrastructure, and building real systems that drive next-generation manufacturing.
This is an early-stage opportunity to help define what that software looks like. You'll shape architecture decisions, not inherit a legacy codebase. On-site at our facility, working directly with the CTO and founding engineers — close to the machines your software programs.
What You'll Do¶
- Build production software that ties our AI-CAM pipeline to real manufacturing operations — order management, job scheduling, quoting, and quality tracking.
- Develop interactive 3D geometry tools for the browser — visualizing CAD models, analyzing features, and surfacing manufacturability insights to customers and operators.
- Own and evolve cloud infrastructure, including deployment, storage, and service orchestration.
- Build integrations between our systems and external platforms across accounting, CAD, billing, and project management.
- Design and maintain database schemas, APIs, and background job pipelines.
- Create tools for both customers (upload, track, inspect) and shop floor operators (setup, status, dashboards).
- Improve observability, monitoring, and automation across services.
- Step into any layer of the stack — frontend, backend, infrastructure — to solve problems end-to-end.
What You'll Need¶
- 3+ years building full-stack web applications.
- Strong TypeScript and React proficiency.
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) — schema design, migrations, query performance.
- Cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or equivalent) — deploying, scaling, and managing production services.
- Comfortable owning features end-to-end: UI, API, database, deployment.
- Ability to work autonomously and make high-leverage technical decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Passionate about design and manufacturing.
- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have¶
- Experience with platforms like Supabase, Vercel, or similar modern deployment and backend tooling.
- 3D visualization on the web (e.g., Three.js, WebGL).
- CAD or geometry background — familiarity with formats like STEP/IGES, parametric modeling, or tools like OnShape.
- Familiarity with manufacturing software (ERP, MES, QMS) or industrial systems.
- Monorepo experience (e.g., Turborepo).
- Background in AI/LLM integration.
Compensation¶
The salary range for this role is $X–$Y. The final offer will depend on experience, skills, and expertise. In addition to salary, we offer meaningful early-stage equity and a full benefits package. This is an on-site role at our facility.
Why Anvil¶
- Small team, high ownership — ship features that drive real production from day one
- Code meets the physical world — the software you build drives machines cutting real parts, with short feedback loops between your commits and the shop floor
- Founding-stage equity — meaningful ownership in a company at the ground floor
- Software + AI + manufacturing — a rare intersection where deep technical work drives reindustrialization
- Deep technical team, low bureaucracy — backgrounds from Amazon Robotics, nTop, and Vicarious Surgical
